Fixed! Thank you very much!
For the ones who still have problems, the point is to achieve inserting the needle all the way in. Try a little, when you’ll insert it in the proper place, you’ll notice it
@MacbethHD Jap i think so. Google it
Is weapon oil the same as gun oil? I know that sounds stupid…
I couldn’t fix mine. 2 inch needle. insert all the way down. tilt to the left and put oil in. I still have the squeal after quite a few attempts. any tips?
@grindking313 You cant see it but if you follow the instruktions you will be successful.
i can’t really see it in this video, but what does the thing look like that i’m trying to hit with the oil?
@metronomic1 ha so if you own such a little screwdriver, don´t loose it. Because i lost mine -.- .
But doesn´t matter at all. The camera works!!
@DriveProgHouse2 Yes it does: The squeak sound comes from the mirror brake, so the mirror is much slower than in normal condition. Its like a gearwheel thats out of oil (it´s stock). Put some oil on it and it runs!! ^^
Other than the terrible sound, does the ‘shutter skueak’ affect the performance of the camera?
Thanks for the video. I got my daughter’s A-1 going again.
This is totally ghetto. Using a fucking steak knife to unscrew those screws??? WTF
My Canon AE-1P has the same problem, now i just need to find myself some weapon oil and get my hands on work (i hope i dont do anything wrong…).
Very helpfull video, congratulations.
Thank you for a great video. You helped me save a much cherished AE-1 Program, took me 4 attempts, I think I was to skimpy on the oil. I used RemOil and my Camera fires like new. I just can’t get over how easy it was. You ROCK !!!!!
@AnalogSLR tnx! btw i did repair my canon, thank you for that video!
@yaco1313 Hey yaco1313! the music is from the two german DJ´s Kruder & Dorfmeister and the the song is called High Noon from the album Stone Book^^! Have fun
what music did you use in this video?
@obourneo You can use every Weaponoil you want for this. The reason: Weaponoil is much thicker than other oils like WD-40. So it stays in place where it has to be (on the spinwheel of the mirrorbrake). I hope i could help you!
AnalogSLR
@AnalogSLR Could you give an example of a good oil? Would something like “Parker Hale Youngs 303 Gun Oil” be ok? thanks
Did this just now and it worked perfectly. The mirror moves ten times faster than before and there is absolutely no squeaking
Thank you so much!
@canonfanboy88 Please do never use WD-40 on such projects like these. there are very sensitive mechanics in a Camera which can be destroyed. Weapon oil is the best choice you can make!!
can you use wd-40? where does the needle go into
yeaah!!
that’s mine fixed as well, thanx!!
I have a beautiful A1, but it suffered from the squeal. I have been looking for a way to repair it but the only webpages I could find descibed the difficult way: from the top. Since I did not want to damage my camera, I did not try that way.
This week I stumbled upon this YouTube-contribution. Yesterday I followed the instructions and it is just too easy. In about 10 minutes I was done and the squeal is gone! My camera clicks as if it is brand new!!
Thank you so much!
after i’ve seen the photos on the old homepage, i was able to repair my camera! it works perfectly now
though i had to try it 4 times, since the drops were to small at first
